What is KUA Number

Kua Number (also spelled Gua Number) is a concept from Feng Shui, not traditional numerology. It originates from Chinese metaphysics, particularly the Eight Mansions School of Feng Shui, and is used to determine a person’s lucky and unlucky directions based on their birth year and gender.

What Is Kua Number?

The Kua Number is a personal number (1 to 9) calculated using:

  • Your year of birth

  • Your gender

Once calculated, this number is used to determine:

  • Favorable directions (for sleep, work, home entrances, etc.)

  • Unfavorable directions (to be avoided)

How to Calculate Your Kua Number

For Males:

  1. Add the last two digits of your birth year.

  2. If the sum is a 2-digit number, add them again to get a single digit.

  3. Subtract this single digit from 10.

    • Example: Born in 1993 → 9+3 = 12 → 1+2 = 3 → 10–3 = 7

For Females:

  1. Add the last two digits of your birth year.

  2. Reduce to a single digit if necessary.

  3. Add 5 to the result (for births after 2000, add 6).

    • Example: Born in 1993 → 9+3 = 12 → 1+2 = 3 → 3+5 = 8

Note: For people born in 2000 or later, the formula slightly changes.
